Heart Space Bakes is located in Austin, Texas.
This one-woman home bakery is operated by Trish O'Brien. Trish has been vegan for around a decade, and while she's watched food technology make vegan food more accessible (and yummier!) over the course of that time, she still felt there was a bit of a hole in the baked goods department. Never one to turn down a doughy, delicious bake she became determined to make the baked goods she wanted to see (and eat) in the world. She's spent the last few years developing recipes and feeding her friends, family, and coworkers decadent, cruelty-free treats. After discovering a gluten intolerance a few years ago, she set her sights on working up treats that don't compromise on texture, flavor, or her health.
Oftentimes, when people talk about veganism, they talk about sacrifice, what us humans are giving up in order to eat ethically. In founding Heart Space Bakes, her mission is to share the joy of sweet treats while de-centering this narrative. Eating cruelty-free doesn't have to be a sacrifice. We can indulge our own creature comforts without infringing on the well-being of our fellow animals. Veganism is not about what you give up, veganism is about creating a better world for all life on this planet, and there's so much more to be gained than lost in that effort.
Heart Space Bakes makes living a cruelty-free, values-forward life that much easier. Whether you're working to be inclusive of your loved ones dietary restrictions, vegan, or gluten-free, these are baked goods you can feel good about.
